For 25 years, Pittsford students, families, educators and community members have supported Golisano Children’s Hospital (GCH) through the Rainbow Classic, the annual basketball rivalry between Pittsford Mendon and Pittsford Sutherland high schools. At Pittsford’s homecoming, families were able to see the results of that support firsthand with a tour of the GCH Mobile Care Unit designed to bring pediatric care directly into local communities. It is a tangible example of what can happen when a community sustains a commitment to children's health over generations...

This fall, the PTSA is bringing the community together for two fun-filled fundraising events that offer something for everyone. First up is the October 8 Parent Social at 20 Deep. Next is the much-anticipated PTSA Super Sale that opens to the public from November 7-8. Every dollar raised goes directly back to Pittsford students, helping fund the experiences, opportunities and programs that enrich their education...

Pittsford Central School District recently updated its Mission, Vision, and Values in order to align with the development of its new Strategic Plan. The process began during a summer leadership workshop that brought together students, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, community members, and the Board of Education. From this meeting, it was recommended that the district update some of the wording to better align with the new Strategic Plan that will be published and posted to the district website in October. Those recommendations were then reviewed and finalized by the District Planning Team...

Before the September 14, 2026, Mendon soccer match against Batavia, players, coaches and spectators observed 25 seconds of silence in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on that tragic day, including 1985 Mendon High School alum and soccer player Todd Pelino who worked in the World Trade Center. Todd was an outstanding teammate, captain and person who wore the No. 9 jersey as a Mendon soccer player. Each year, a player is selected to wear the No. 9 jersey in honor of Todd and the strength of character he demonstrated both on and off the field.

For the 2026 season, senior defender and captain Danny Coyne was selected by his coaches and teammates to wear the No. 9 jersey. Coyne also wore No. 9 during the 2025 season, making him just the fourth player in Mendon soccer history to wear the jersey of honor for two seasons.

The Pittsford Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of James Bates as Assistant Principal at Mendon High School. Bates was formally appointed by the Board of Education at its September 8, 2026, meeting and will begin his new role on October 9.

Bates brings a strong background in science education, instructional leadership, and school administration to his new role. He began his career as a middle school biology teacher and department leader at East Rochester High School. He has also served as an Assistant Principal at Monroe 2 BOCES and as an Assistant Principal at Western Wayne Summer Academy.

As the new school year begins, Pittsford Central School District is bringing Student Services and Special Education together under a new, unified Department of Pupil Services. The new structure is designed to strengthen collaboration and provide more coordinated support for students and families. Leading the department is Dr. Lindsay Ali, the district’s new Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services, who looks forward to partnering with students, families, staff and the community to support the success of every student.

The new structure is designed to strengthen collaboration, reduce silos and create greater consistency and coordination across the academic, social-emotional, behavioral, health and special education supports available to students.
