Superintendent Michael Pero Announces Retirement Date; Shana Cutaia Named New Superintendent

With over 30 years of service with the Pittsford Central School District (PCSD), Superintendent Michael Pero has announced his retirement. His last official day as Superintendent will be December 1, 2025. He has agreed to stay on through January as a Deputy Superintendent to assist with the transition and oversee the Business Office while the Assistant Superintendent of Business is on medical leave.

Laptop Pick Up for Incoming 6th and 9th Grade Students Begins Monday, July 21

The laptop distribution process has changed this year, and laptops will be distributed over the summer for incoming Grade 6 and 9 students. Students need to be present at the time of pick up as they will need to sign into their device. Staff will be on hand to assist with the process.

Stephanie Barg Appointed Mendon High School Assistant Principal

The Pittsford Board of Education has appointed Stephanie Barg as Assistant Principal for Mendon High School. She will begin her new role on August 1, 2025. “We welcome Ms. Barg to the role of assistant principal for Mendon High School,” said Superintendent Michael Pero. “She has a history of student-focused leadership that will serve Mendon High School well.”

Barg currently serves as the principal of Jefferson Road Elementary School. The search for her replacement will be conducted immediately. “Ms. Barg will be spending the next three weeks at Jefferson Road Elementary and will be accessible for any needed assistance during this transition,” said Superintendent Michael Pero.

Mendon High School’s YouYou Wu Wins First Place in Congressional Art Competition

Congratulations to Mendon High School student Youyou Wu for winning the Congressional Art Competition (Rochester district) with her painting, “Paddling Near Home: My Rochester.” She was recognized at a June 11, 2025, celebration hosted by the Congressional Institute in Washington, D.C. The competition is a nationally recognized program sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Mendon High School Groundbreaking

A groundbreaking ceremony took place at Mendon High School on May 12, 2025, to officially mark the start of construction for a two-story addition that will be built on the north side of the building for science and language classrooms. The existing science classrooms will be renovated for safety purposes and will align with the Sutherland High School facilities.
